When everyone holidays you work. Work harder.
Although working in hospitality is a very rewarding job, being stuck at work when it’s peak holiday season can give you major ‘FOMO’ (fear of missing out).
The good thing is that the earth has two hemispheres, so whatever your choice of climate to vay-cay in, the earth can accommodate.
Here are five places you can go during off-peak times to enjoy your holiday
1. Jamaica
You have a very small window between March and May to experience low rainfalls, perfect temperatures and cheaper accommodations in beautiful Jamaica. This tropical escape offers a rich cultural experience, pristine coastline and fresh, exotic food.
The south coast of Italy with its picturesque scenery, abundance of beautiful Italian villages and, of course, the explosion of flavors is sure to make your holiday unforgettable. If you prefer your vacations more action-packed, this region is also home to a number of outstanding hike routes (like those laid out in this detailed guide from 10 Adventures).
The best time to travel is September to October (squeeze in a quick trip before the Christmas madness) when it’s cheaper, less crowded and you get the relief from a cool evening coastal breeze.
The downside to traveling in October is that you might have limited accommodation options as businesses close up around this time.
Although June is when the warm weather sweeps the beautiful country of Latvia, it offers an unlimited supply of adventure all year round. The thing is, there is no off-peak time here because tourist numbers are comparatively low. Latvia is an underrated treasure waiting to be discovered; check it out before everyone finds out!
Almost always sunny and surrounded by the clear blue Mediterranean Sea, Malta is an excellent holiday spot. For those in the hospitality industry, the best time to travel here is from April to May or September to October. The weather will be decent, the crowds won’t be too bad, and you can get back to work with a gorgeous tan.
When you think India you might think Taj Mahal, but the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the east of India are a perfect place to escape the madness. Their location means you can even pop over to neighboring countries – Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar – to have a wander.
BONUS! Your bed
It’s free, it’s comfortable and it offers you the thing you need the most – rest. Turn your phone off, order pizza, get a Netflix subscription, and maybe even a cheeky bottle of wine.
Happy travels!
